On the recent 7th to 10th January 2015, The Professional Golf of Malaysia(PGM) and Panasonic Malaysia announced its sponsorship for the Panasonic Open Malaysia 2015 - "Tournament of Champions". The event toke part at Templer Park Country Club, Selangor with a total prizepool of RM250,000. Under the PGM Tour, this will be the first Tour to kickstart the schedule.
Malaysian Danny Chia made his debut into the scene by eight strokes, beating other veterans. Chia went into the fourth and final round with a fashionable seven-stroke cushion over the field and closed out the season-opener with a two-under 70 to secure the title with a 16-under-par 272 total leaving behind Singapore's Mardan Mamat and countryman Kenneth De Silva. Besides, Chia will also gain World Ranking Points which will contribute to his journey of securing a spot in the 2016 Olympics and a place to compete in the Panasonic Open India.
As listed on PGM Tour's calendar, the next tour will be the Kinrara Closed Championship. It will be hosted at Kinrara Golf Club, Puchong with a prize of RM180,000. On top of that, more tours will be held throughout the year to improve the competitive golf scene.
